Chinese President Xi Jinping accepted the Canadian ambassador to China, Bao Damin,
at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of the 22nd.
On September 4th, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau announced
the appointment of Dominic Barton
as the Canadian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
Bao Damin is the Chairman of the Economic Development
Advisory Committee of the Canadian Ministry of Finance
and an economic adviser trusted by Prime Minister Trudeau.
He was the general manager of McKinsey,
a US management consulting firm, before 2018.
He worked as a president of the company in Asia for several years in Shanghai.
The position of the Canadian Ambassador to China has been vacant
since the dismissal of John McCallum in January this year.
Bao Damin has expressed his honour that he has been appointed
as the Canadian Ambassador to China.
