U.S. President Trump has stated that
a trade agreement between the United States and China
may not be reached until the US election next November.
Trump told reporters while attending
attending the NATO leaders’ meeting in London, England
that he did not have a deadline,
and he thought that in a way,
it would be better to sign a trade agreement
with China after the election.
Trump went on to say,
but China hopes to reach an agreement now,
and the United States will consider whether
this trade agreement will be the right choice.
After Trump’s remarks,
European stock prices and the yuan’s exchange rate fell.
Investors have been hoping that
the United States and China could avoid escalating trade conflicts.
Trump said that a trade agreement with China
will only come into being if he wants to,
and he thinks he has done a good job in the negotiations.
